saterday 10 okt we wend to a endurance raid with peter and nancy. This is a belgium coupel living in the allicante region for 10 years now. They love arabian horses and train them for the endurance raids. They have 4 horses, 1 young arabian mare in training under saddel, one french trotter, 1 arabian gelding in training for raids, and one mare for breeding. We are becoming good friends, and they show us the region , the good restaurants and help us out in spannish language and admistration. Good peopel. So saterday we whent out at 6 a clock in the morning for a three hours drive to vallencia. The raid whas two time 22 km with two stops for refreshment for horse and driver. This raids are still iniciation raids for beginner horses. But oslo the arabian gelding is only seven years old, but is improving a lot. After a few more raids he will be ready for a 60 or 70 km raid to level up to a 82 km raid when it gets serieus. We are witnes how much hard work this is to train the horses for this raids. All most 4 to 5 days training for two or three hours a day for horse and rider , and jogging one hour a day for the rider . All this with the risks for accidents on the road, kolik for the horse and so on .....
I will try once to go with peter on one off his trainings with the trotter they have. A very strong horse that had run in the trottter races in the past. He has a very high speed in trot and peter won a lot off raids with it. He only lacks the endurance off a arabian horse, after 42 km he is out of condition and is hard to train him for higher levels off endurance raids. So ho knows we could train yoker for this?
For the rest here in allicante, its still very warm . Up to more then 30 celcius.
